In einem Interview mit CVG erklärte Matt Hooper, seinerseits Design Director im Rage-Team, dass sie mit der Entwicklung von Rage bereits im Feintuning-Stadium angekommen sind.
Seit der Ankündigung von Rage im September 2007 ist viel Zeit vergangen.
Laut Matt Hooper nahm die Entwicklung der idTech5 einen großen Teil der Arbeit in Anspruch.

Er sagt, dass die Technologie auf den Punkt gebracht wurde, wo Rage auf allen Plattformen mit 60 Bildern pro Sekunde läuft. Allerdings bedarf es Zeit, um Spielelemente wie die Interaktionen mit NPCs, Fahrzeug-Gefechte etc. komplett zu testen und aufzupolieren.Matt Hooper said:Most of the elements are present but it's a big game and there are a lot of different gameplay elements.
When you go through everything - vehicle combat, the shooter elements, complex NPC interaction, mini-games - there's a lot there so it takes a long time to polish all of those elements.
The technology improved to the point where we know it's going to run at 60fps on all the platforms. The gameplay is there where we know that people are going to understand what's going on and they like the direction. So now it's just a matter of fine tuning it all.

Rage erscheint im September 2011, wenn keine gravierenden Probleme in der Endphase der Entwicklung auftreten.Matt Hooper said:I think the biggest thing was doing such a brand new technology and the simultaneous release on all of the platforms.
That was a big change from what we've done in the past, so that's the thing that caused the most amount of work.
